Himalayan Bowl Therapy
Himalayan singing bowls (also known as Tibetan singing bowls) have been in use for many centuries potentially dating back to ancient times. They are unique because they are multi-phonic instruments, producing multiple harmonic overtones all at the same time. (The bowls are made of metal and the overtones are the result of using an alloy consisting of multiple metals, each producing its own overtone).
With their warm, mellow & deeply resonant overtones, Himalayan bowls are powerful yet gentle tools for healing. Their pure sounds are calming and pleasing to the brain and this helps to induce a feeling of deep restfulness … away from the noisy hustle & bustle of daily life. This in turn helps to enhance our mood and sense of happiness.
These Himalayan singing bowls can also be placed directly on to the body to amplify the effect of the healing vibrations. This practice is often referred to as a sound massage.

“Reiki: The Secret Art of Happiness” by Sue Pready
What happens in a treatment?
All you need do is simply lie down fully clothed on a treatment couch, be wrapped in a blanket and relax. The therapist will then gently place their hands in a non-intrusive way and in a sequence of positions on or above the body. There will be soft music playing in the background or you can receive your treatment in silence if you prefer.

Sound Healing Therapies (FAQs)
Sound healing is the therapeutic use of sound and music for healing. It is a natural way to treat pain and illness and has no harmful side effects. When we are ill, stressed or unhappy, we feel low and out of tune with ourselves. Sound healing can help us to re-tune ourselves and feel better and is a powerful means of promoting ‘sound health’ and wellbeing for all.
Treatment techniques vary but all involve the application of sound waves and harmonic vibrations - through the voice and other instruments - to balance our mind, body and spirit. Following a sound healing session, clients often report feeling extraordinarily peaceful and deeply relaxed yet at the same time energised and centred, with stress and anxiety levels greatly reduced.
Most people need more than one sound healing session to get their body back into balance. As a general guide, it’s recommended that you have three (preferably weekly) treatments and then review your progress at the end of these three sessions. If you have a serious illness you may well need more sessions before you start to feel the benefit.
(For specific insights into how this 3-session approach can work in practice, you’ll find a detailed testimonial from a past client on my ABOUT Page here).
When using sound for healing, the sounds flow directly to wherever they are needed and effectively bypass the conscious mind. This has the effect of bringing about deep states of relaxation which both stimulate the body's natural self-healing mechanisms and boost the immune system. Relaxation is a fundamental key to healing - the kind of deep relaxation which enables the release of tension without distractions from the mind. This is essentially how sound healing helps to bring the body, mind and emotions back into harmony with the soul or spirit.
After a short consultation, you will be asked to lie down fully clothed on a treatment couch to receive a gentle 'sound bath' of healing vibrations. For this, the therapist will use their voice* and/or other therapeutic instruments such as singing bowls to produce a range of sounds over and around you to balance different areas of the body. There will then be a period of silence to allow you to integrate the sound healing.

Spiritual Healing (NFSH - The Healing Trust)
‘Healing’ in this context is a natural energy therapy which is deeply relaxing, non-invasive, holistic (treats the whole person) and complements conventional treatments. It involves the transfer of natural beneficial energy between the healer and the patient that deals with ‘dis-ease’ (or lack of ease) at its deepest level and frees your natural resources to work in the most effective way for you.
(These treatments are carried out seated in a chair and are of a shorter duration than couch treatments)
Healers work with their hands a short distance from your body, or sometimes with a light touch, inviting you to relax and close your eyes if you wish. Usually, patients are aware that something is happening. Most experience a variety of sensations, perhaps warmth or coolness, tingling and pressure, or pain coming to the surface (and often dispersing) as the energy goes to work. Some patients experience little more than warmth but the process is no less effective.
Healing can be helpful with a wide range of conditions, sometimes to a remarkable degree. It is a process of revitalisation, relaxation and release at a profound level, which helps your body to adjust and heal spontaneously at its own pace and in its own way. Healing seeks out the underlying cause as well as the ‘presenting symptom’. This can mean that the outcome of a healing session may be beneficial in an unexpected way and not necessarily immediately: for example, you may feel a sudden benefit days later or gradual improvement over a period of time. Sometimes the process is obvious, sometimes more subtle.
One session may be sufficient, but it is more usual that several sessions are needed. If you are experiencing healing for the first time it may take you two or three sessions to relax into the process. For this reason, three sessions are recommended to gain the full benefit and then review.
No. Healing is about restoring balance to your life in whatever ways may be needed. It often helps to bring a sense of proportion and perspective and a greater feeling of having your ‘feet on the ground’ and of regaining control, irrespective of whether you are ill or not. On the other hand, it can be especially helpful in crisis situations and with terminal illness. Healing can stand alone as a therapy, has no harmful side effects and works well with any other therapy. Above all, it is a process to help you help yourself.
It is important to maintain contact with your doctor if you have a condition that requires conventional medical support or treatment. Healing complements the treatments your doctor is giving you so do tell her/him that you are receiving healing and about any positive benefits you experience.

It has long been scientifically proven that everything in the universe is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies which correspond to musical notes. It is also known that the organs, glands and cells throughout our bodies vibrate at their own specific frequencies, which correspond to these musical notes. (An example would be a healthy heart which would vibrate at the frequency of the F note).
When your body is in perfect health and all the parts are vibrating to the correct note, your body is like an orchestra playing beautiful music … with energy flowing freely through your whole system via the network of chakras and meridians. However, various factors such as stress can affect the flow of energy and cause energy blocks - in which case the body part where the blockage is can no longer play the right note …
Tuning forks - which resonate to specific frequencies - serve to re-tune the body back to a state of physical balance by clearing any blockages that may be present.
